Sharon's Story

Hello there fabulous.

I'm Sharon Scott - it's nice to meet you.  I have had music in my bones from birth but I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket until I was well in my 20's.  I did, however, have the passion for the beauty of life and great stage presence that translated into writing and performing songs.  I eventually learned how to sing as well and what changed that was taking lessons from a lady who sang with Liza Minelli and has a daughter on broadway today.  She taught me how to listen - so simple yet so life changing - and it's changed my life with regards to music.  She told me I 'had it' and that if I stuck with her she could make me the best I could be.  Life gets in the way a little so I am on detours with a house, job and an amazing daughter I wouldn't change the world for but ultimately singing a song that could make you smile, cry, contemplate, think... is my goal in life.  That language transcends all others and the good Lord uses it as a tool.
I grew up in upstate New York and moved to Texas with my Mom, Dad, little brother Todd and our white german shepherd, Lady!  Aside from a few world wide jaunts I've lived here most my life.  I love playing my cool groovy story telling songs that touch hearts and minds and takes people away from reality for a short period of time with inspirational and heart felt stories of love, pain, revenge and glory.  I believe that music is a conduit that connects hearts and minds over and above languages, feelings and any other obstacle and I love being a part of that!  Music is a tool that can be used to express the most inner secret desires and feelings that speaking fears.  It's the most simple phrases that are spoken that carry the most weight.

I started playing my father's ukulele when I was 12.  My first song I played was Blue Moon and the first song I kinda wrote was a birthday song for my Mom to the tune of Blue Moon.  I took up guitar at about 14 when a friend of ours taught me the first 3 chords - G, C and D while he was trying to catch chickens to cut their heads off for dinner and feeding them beer soaked marshmallows.  No matter what he was doing... little did he know what God was doing with him right there and then!  God can definitely use ANYthing!

I grew up singing in choirs and playing trumpet in the band that gave me the theory foundation needed to write.  My specialty was jazz band.  The rhythm comes naturally.  My parents gave my brother a guitar that I quickly highjacked and quickly realized I needed my own.  Walking by the music store I saw one that said 'buy me' so I did.  I didn't think a 12 string guitar was any big deal... yes, had no idea what I was buying but it felt like home.  I still have it and play out with it!  Since then I've also picked up piano and a little mandolin.  I studied music at Baylor and have years of experience in musical theater, performance, choir, band and heading up my own bands.  Music has always been a passion of mind and I love the performance aspect of music, however my strength is the songwriting and I hope to sell my songs to country artists who are performing full time.  I have played many places across the globe throughout the years from the mountain tops in Switzerland to the dusty floors in Mexico and will continue on.  I hope you are blessed by what you hear!

Please be sure to sign up on my mailing list and check out my music.  I would love for you to join us at an upcoming event for some toe tapping good times!  Let me know if any song specifically touches your heart... and requests are always welcome!

God Bless, Lead, Love and Speed!!  ~ Sharon.
